In the middle of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, we both moved thousands of miles across the country to start the next stage of our medical training. Due to Nick's incredible ability to not pay much attention to certain things, he swiped right on Hinge not recognizing that Annie was a co-resident. She immediately pointed this out and they kept their correspondence platonic.

 

However, orientation started a couple weeks after that and as soon as Annie saw how tall Nick was, she pursued him in a way that can only be described as violently efficient. They started spending time together the first week of orientation playing basketball in the park with Annie coming over for a delicious homecooked meal at Nick's apartment (he also did the dishes). They began dating very soon after that. Given their natural talent for clandestine operations, they were able to keep their relationship a secret from every coworker for at least a year and in some cases even longer (or so Nick likes to believe).

 

They've since bought a house together and adopted a few furry companions to add to the two Annie brought with her to residency - their small family can only be adequately described as a clowder.

They are both madly in love. Nick is convinced that no one else on Earth can lay claim to performing direct cardiac massage together with their partner on Valentine's Day as they did in 2023.
